This story is going to be about how exercise isn't always a chore and some of
the rewarding things you can get out of exercise.
As I heard, “First call for 100 meter dash”, it
sounded like someone was calling my name through a loudspeaker and my heart
started to race. I felt like everything was going in slow-motion. When I got
down to the starting line, I started zoning everything out and started focusing
on the finish line. A few seconds later I hear a loud voice say, “Runners
please lineup”. For some reason I got less and less nervous with every passing
second. After a few seconds I hear, “Runners on your mark……Get set…..Bang!” and
the gun goes off quicker than I could ever imagine.
The first five seconds were just a big blur, but
the last seven seconds seemed like seven hours. It was neck and neck with Mike
like two Nascar drivers on the final lap. When we crossed the finished line I
didn’t expect to finish that close to Mike. It felt like we finished at the
exact same time like photo finish, but I finished a few mili-seconds behind him.
I felt confident about my last event like a
cheetah stalking i wounded wildebeest. It was the four by one which is a relay
race where one person runs 100 meters and hands the baton off to another person
who runs another 100 meters and so on. The only thing I was nervous about was
dropping the baton. The one thing I could do was think confident about myself
and hope everything would go fine.
When the time came for the four by one I
was the third person on the track to get the baton. I wasn't sure why the refs
had us line up on the numbers. You can’t give a person that is running
only a 100 meters a head start on anything because it’s only 100 meters it's
like giving a bingo player half their card already covered. The team of Zach,
Brandon, Cooper and I got lane six which was very good because we were the
farthest ahead when the gun went off. It took about 45 seconds to a minute for
my whole team to get around the track.
You can really satisfy yourself when you're exercising or physically active. Or you could have a great story to tell
like mine. Yes I might not have won my 100 meter dash, but I still came very
close and tried my hardest and I am very satisfied with that. What will you
satisfy yourself with?
